Dale Coyne Racing Signs Rinus VeeKay For the Full 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES Season
Plainfield, Illinois – February 14, 2025 – Dale Coyne Racing signs NTT INDYCAR SERIES veteran Rinus VeeKay for the full 2025 season. After a year in which multiple drivers piloted the two Dale Coyne Racing entries, the team is happy to announce its second full-time driver for the No. 18 entry. “We are excited about getting back to full-time drivers for 2025. The stability allows us to grow as a team, and that’s important to me. For that to be accomplished, having a proven veteran in one of our entries helps tremendously, and that’s one of the many reasons we have decided to go with VeeKay to complete the 2025 grid. We are excited for him to join the team and get started with us at the Sebring test coming up next week in preparation for the full NTT INDYCAR SERIES season,” said team owner Dale Coyne. Rinus VeeKay, hailing from the Netherlands, is another graduate of the junior open-wheel series programs, a champion of the 2018 USF Pro 2000 Championship, and vice champion in the INDY NXT by Firestone Championship on his quest to the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. Upon reaching the top rung of the ladder, VeeKay continued to shine, earning Rookie of the Year honors in 2020 and securing his maiden victory at the 2021 INDYCAR Grand Prix at IMS. Along with this win, VeeKay has achieved nine top-five finishes and two pole positions. He has shown blistering speed in Indianapolis 500 qualifying, with an impressive average starting position of 3.8, including three front-row starts in his five attempts at the historic race. VeeKay gained the attention of team owner Dale Coyne after finishing first in class at the October IMS oval test and third overall in the No. 18 Dale Coyne Racing entry. “Very exciting news. I am happy to announce my partnership with Dale Coyne Racing for the 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season,” said VeeKay. “It makes me proud to see my name among the drivers competing in this fantastic series for a sixth consecutive year. After a difficult start to my offseason, I am delighted to end the winter with this news.” VeeKay will join the team at the Sebring test next week in preparation for his first race with Dale Coyne Racing at the Streets of St. Petersburg on March 2.
Jacob Abel Signed To Run Full Time In The No. 51 Dale Coyne Racing Entry In 2025
Plainfield, IL. (Monday, January 13, 2025) Dale Coyne Racing today announces that multiple-time Indy NXT race winner and 2024 vice champion Jacob Abel will step up into the NTT IndyCar Series in the No. 51 My Entry for the full 2025 season. The 23-year-old American driver is making the leap from Indy NXT after a successful 2024 campaign that saw him finish in the top five 11 times in the series' 14-race schedule, three of which were victories, ending the season as vice champion. "We are excited about running another Indy NXT Vice Champion here at Dale Coyne Racing," commented team owner Dale Coyne. "We have watched Jacob over the years and did an evaluation with him at the end of the 2023 season, where he showed great promise in these cars. It will be good to get back to one solid driver for the whole season again. Our plans for our second driver are coming along quite nicely, and we will have more news on that in approximately 3 weeks." In the fall of 2023, Jacob got the call up from Dale Coyne to do an evaluation day at Sebring. Jacob adapted quickly to the pinnacle open wheel Indy Car and impressed his suitors. “I can not tell you how excited I am to get a full time Indy Car ride for 2025. I have worked my whole life for this opportunity ,” gleamed the likeable 23-year-old Abel. “The test at Sebring with Dale and the test this fall with Chip Ganassi, only made my resolve greater. I know it is a competitive road ahead but we look forward to hard work and showing what we can do together as a team.” Abel will begin his time with Dale Coyne Racing with a test session at The Thermal Club, where he will start preparing for the NTT IndyCar Series' first race of the season at St. Petersburg, FL, on Sunday, March 2nd, with coverage beginning at 12 p.m. ET.
Harvey Ties Best Finish of the Season in Nashville
Lebanon, TN. (Sunday, September 15, 2024) – Dale Coyne Racing’s Jack Harvey (No. 18 INVST Honda, Dale Coyne Racing) tied his best finish of the season with a strong run to 13th in the season finale at Nashville Superspeedway. His teammate Katherine Legge (No. 51 e.l.f. Cosmetics Honda, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR) saw her race end early after contact with the wall on Lap 85. Jack Harvey, #18 INVST, Dale Coyne Racing Honda Started: 20th Finished: 13th •Harvey started the 206-lap event in 20th. •He immediately gained a couple of spots at the start to move into 18th before settling back into 20th for the majority of his first stint. •He was running 13th by the time a full course caution came out on Lap 56. •He then took advantage of the caution period to make his first stop of the race on Lap 64, switching to the alternate Firestone tire. •Upon the restart, Harvey continued to run 13th and once again took advantage of another full course caution to make his second stop on Lap 93. •Harvey ran in the top 10 for part of his following stint. •With a final full course caution coming out on Lap 135, the team elected to bring Harvey in on Lap 139 for what ended up being his final stop. •Harvey entered into fuel saving mode having to make it to Lap 206. •Thanks for his great fuel saving, Harvey took the checkered flag in 13th matching his best finish of the season. Post Race Quote “It was pretty good overall. We started 20th and finished 13th. It was pretty crazy on strategy there today. I think a couple of times some yellows came out in a favorable time so that was great. I think our pace was OK, not awesome but pretty good to stay where we were. We just rolled the dice on strategy at the end. We were so close to making it to the finish line without running out of fuel but it just started puttering a bit down the back straight and onto the front straight. Sometimes you just have to roll the dice like that. As I told the team on the in lap, everyone at Dale Coyne Racing knows they have a driver who appreciates them and loves them. I’d love to be back to do it again but until then I just want to say thank you to everyone at DCR and everyone at INVST. And to all the teammates I had this year, it’s been my privilege.” Katherine Legge, #51 e.l.f. Cosmetics, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR Honda Started: 23rd Finished: 26th •Legge, moved up from her 23rd place on the starting grid and ran 22nd for most of her first stint. •She made a first pit stop from 24th on Lap 32 to switch to the primary Firestone tire after starting the race on the alternates. •She then pit again on Lap 64. •Unfortunately for Legge, she slid up the race track when fighting with Fittipaldi and once in the marbles she couldn’t avoid tapping the wall and putting an early end to her race. Post Race Quote “I was racing with Fittipaldi, he washed up high and I was right underneath his rear wing and I washed up high and I couldn’t get the car down enough and ended up in the marbles and hit wall. It’s disappointing but in that scenario we were already struggling with the car and I couldn’t save it. I want to thank Dale for giving me the opportunity to drive for him this season. It wasn’t the ending we wanted but I’m thankful to have been back behind the wheel of an Indy car this season.”
Harvey and Legge Score a Couple of Top 15 Finishes at Milwaukee
West Allis, Wis. (Sunday, September 1, 2024) – Dale Coyne Racing’s Jack Harvey (No. 18 INVST Honda, Dale Coyne Racing) took the checkered flag for Race 2 of the weekend at the Milwaukee Mile in 14th while registering the third fastest lap of the race. His teammate Katherine Legge (No. 51 e.l.f. Cosmetics Honda, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR) finished a season best of 15th. Jack Harvey, #18 INVST, Dale Coyne Racing Honda Started: 13th Finished: 14th •Harvey started the 250-lap event from a season best 13th. •The driver of the No. 18 INVST car was able to avoid a crash ahead of him on the opening lap of the race. •He had taken over 10th by the time the race finally went green on Lap 17. •Opting to pit later than others, Harvey had made his way up to fifth before heading to pit lane for his first stop on Lap 56. •He was running 12th when a full course caution came out on Lap 63. •Harvey ran as high as second before making his second stop on Lap 116. •He ran in the top 10 for most of his third stint and stopped again for fuel and tires on Lap 184. •With a final full course caution coming out with 23 laps to go, Harvey headed to pit lane for a fresh set of tires. •He took the restart with 10 laps remaining in 14th and went on to cross the finish line in the same position. •Harvey ended the day with the third fastest lap of the race with a time of 23.7329. Post Race Quote “I think there were some really good moments in the race but there were also some bad ones. I think we gave away at least one position, maybe two there at the end. So that was disappointing. That being said, we had the third fastest lap of the race which was cool. I think we were able to show the speed we had but I’m not sure we were on the optimal strategy. In the end we started 13th and finished 14th, so that’s not what you would hope for. From a racing perspective, the race was really good fun. I had a great time out there battling with everybody. I think overall, we’re leaving Milwaukee with some good positives and taking some momentum with us into the season finale. Katherine Legge, #51 e.l.f. Cosmetics, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR Honda Started: 22nd Finished: 15th •Legge, who was starting 22nd, moved up to 20th before the race officially went green on Lap 17. •Choosing to wait until Lap 59 to make her first stop, Legge led a couple of laps before making her way to pit lane. •She made her second stop on Lap 103 and ran 16th for most of her third stint. •The driver of the No. 51 e.l.f. Cosmetics Honda continued to run 16th following her third stop on Lap 178. •Legge was running 15th when she elected to stop for fresh tires during a full course caution on lap 231. •She went on to finish a season best of 15th Post Race Quote “We had a decent race, and the e.l.f. Cosmetics car was once again fast. We moved up from our 22nd place on the starting grid to finish 15th so that’s a positive. I think at the end of the day once we analyze everything there are some things we could have done differently but all in all it’s good to finish the race with a strong result. It gives the team some momentum going into Nashville for the season finale.” Next up: The season finale Big Machine Music City Grand Prix at Nashville Superspeedway, September 15, 2024, which will be broadcast live on NBD and Peacock starting at 3pm ET.
Top 20 Finishes for Both Harvey and Legge at Milwaukee Mile
West Allis, Wis. (Saturday, August 31, 2024) – After a strong qualifying performance earlier in the day, Dale Coyne Racing’s Jack Harvey (No. 18 INVST Honda, Dale Coyne Racing) finished 16th in Saturday evening’s first race of the doubleheader Hy-vee Milwaukee Mile 250s, while his teammate Katherine Legge (No. 51 e.l.f. Cosmetics Honda, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR) also put in a strong performance to take the checkered flag in 19th place. Jack Harvey, #18 INVST, Dale Coyne Racing Honda Started: 14th Finished: 16th Qualified 13th for Race 2 •Harvey put in a strong performance to start the day, placing 14th and 13th on the starting grid for Race 1 and Race 2, respectively. •While he fell to 17th at the start of the 250-lap race, he kept drivers such as Scott Dixon behind him until his first pit stop on Lap 62. •Harvey then took advantage of a full course caution to make his second stop on Lap 92 before taking the Lap 96 restart in 21st place. •The driver of the No. 18 INVST car returned to pit lane on Lap 137, once again returning to the track in 21st place. •He was up to 19th by the time he made his final pit stop of the evening on Lap 185. •Harvey took the Lap 204 restart in 17th and went on to gain one more position before taking the checkered flag. Post Race Quote “We started 14th, finished, 16th. I think that last yellow probably hurt us quite a bit honestly. Otherwise, I think we could have had a little bit better result than that. I think we lacked a little bit of pace. It’s really difficult to judge fast laps because you’re always coming out in traffic, at least that was my experience today. This is basically a 500-mile race, and we’re halfway, so hopefully we can find some good changes overnight and be better tomorrow.” Katherine Legge, #51 e.l.f. Cosmetics, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR Honda Started: 18th Finished: 19th Qualified: 22nd for Race 2 •Like her teammate, Legge also put in a strong run in qualifying earlier in the day, placing 18th and 22nd on the starting grid for each race. •Legge spent most of her first stint in 23rd position and made her first stop on Lap 65. •She then pitted under caution on Lap 88 and returned to the track in 25th. •By the time she made her final stop on Lap 198 she was up to 21st. •She registered the fourth fastest lap of the race on Lap 204 with a time of 23.9524. •She went on to finish 19th. Post Race Quote “There was a lot going on in that race, there was a lot of people struggling. Tire degradation was huge which made it interesting depending on what strategy you were on. If there were cars out there on new tires, they were driving past you like you were standing still and you felt like a hero if you were on new tires. I think we were working with the tools, and we were able to have a relatively fast race car. I didn’t feel particularly ‘racy’ just because of what happened at Gateway (World Wide Technology Raceway) I wanted to finish and get my feet underneath me before taking too many chances but some of them are out there racing dirty. I just have to learn and figure it out for tomorrow.” Next up: Race 2 of the Hy-Vee Milwaukee Mile 250 on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2024 (Peacock and USA, from 2:30pm ET)
Toby Sowery Finishes Seventeenth in Portland
Portland, Oregon (Sunday, August 25, 2024) – Dale Coyne Racing’s Toby Sowery (No. 51 Vuzix/Quantilus Honda) put in another strong performance on Sunday to take the checkered flag in 17th. His teammate Jack Harvey (No. 18 INVST Honda) moved up three positions from his starting place to finish 24th. Toby Sowery, #51 Vuzix/Quantilus, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR Honda Started: 19th Finished: 17th •Sowery moved up a couple of positions at the start of the 110-lap race to take over 17th. •He maintained that position for most of his first stint, and then moved up the field as others ahead of him pitted. •The driver of the No. 51 Honda made his first stop on Lap 29 for fuel and to switch from alternate to primary tires. •Sowery battled with Kyle Kirkwood on Lap 52 to take over 13th. •He then made it as high as ninth before making his second stop on Lap 58. •With cars on alternate pit strategies, Sowery was running eighth when he entered pit lane on Lap 85 for his last pit stop. •He returned to the track in 18th. •The rookie gained one more position before taking the checkered flag in 17th place. Post Race Quote “We managed to finish 17th, which is a progression forward in the race, and that’s always the goal. There were a few little bits here and there that I could have done better to maybe get another position but all in all I think we maximized everything very well. The team did a great strategy, great tire choice and we had a good car all weekend. We made a step forward in every session, I’m super happy and thrilled with that. My hands are a bit sore but that’s a testament to all the hard work from everyone. I’m just super pumped that we came home 17th.” Jack Harvey, #18 INVST, Dale Coyne Racing Honda Started: 27th Finished: 24th •After moving up a spot at the start of the race, Harvey took advantage of the one and only caution period at the beginning of the race to pit for fuel on Lap 2. •He returned to the track in 26th and gained another position on the restart on Lap 6. •The driver of the No. 18 INVST car pit once again on Lap 32 for fuel and for a set of the alternate Firestone tire. •He made his second stop on Lap 60 after running as high as 12th during the pit cycle. •Harvey entered pit lane on Lap 81 for his final stop and returned to the action in 25th. •He made up one more position before the end of the 110-lap event to finish 24th. Post Race Quote “It was a pretty physical race. It was the first road course back following my back and neck issues and I definitely felt like I struggled a little bit in the second half of the race. Just a little bit of strength. It’s been hard to build that back in my training in such a short period of time. In regard to our race, I think our pace on the new red tires was okay but on the blacks and used reds we suffered quite a lot so that didn’t help us in moving forward. At the end of the day, I’m happy we were finally able to finish a race without any issues.”
Grand Prix of Portland Qualifying Report
Portland, Oregon (Saturday, August 24, 2024) – Dale Coyne Racing’s Toby Sowery (No. 51 Vuzix/Quantilus Honda) qualified 21st for Sunday’s Bitnile.com Grand Prix of Portland while his teammate Jack Harvey (No. 18 INVST Honda) qualified 28th. Toby Sowery, #51 Vuzix/Quantilus, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR Honda Qualified: 21st •Sowery took to the track in Group 1, Round 1 of qualifying on an alternate set of Firestone tires •The rookie registered what would be his fastest time of the 10-minute session on his fourth lap around the 12-turn, 1.964-mile road course. •He was sitting eighth in his group when he headed to pit lane for a fresh set of the alternate Firestone tire. •Sowery turned an additional four laps in the session but was unable to improve his time. •He finished Round 1 of qualifying ahead of Pato O’Ward, 11th in his group, with a fastest lap of 58.7204 seconds. Post Qualifying Quote “It was the first time I actually had some clean running on the alternate ‘red’ Firestone tires so it was a learning experience in qualifying, but I think we did a great job. We’re always chipping away, always improving the car. Everything we’ve tried has allowed us to improve and move up the field. Dale Coyne Racing have done a great job this weekend. I’m happy with qualifying, obviously the race is where we’re strong. There’s still a lot of learning to do in final practice and then we’ll be ready for the race.” Jack Harvey, #18 INVST, Dale Coyne Racing Honda Qualified: 28th •The driver of the No. 18 INVST Honda went out in Group 2, Round 1 of qualifying on the primary ‘black’ Firestone tire. •Harvey registered a fastest time of 59.3217 seconds in his first outing of the 10-minute session. •He was sitting in 13th when he entered pit lane for a set of alternate ‘red’ Firestone tires. •While Harvey improved his lap time to 59.1787 seconds, it wasn’t enough to move up the time sheet and he ended the session 14th in his group. Post Qualifying Quote “I think qualifying was a little bit weird today. Up to that point, we’d been making really good progress all weekend, we’ve been closing the delta to our competitors. In qualifying we initially went out on blacks. It was okay, and then when we put the red tires on and we didn’t really go any quicker. We’re not sure why at the moment. I felt before qualifying that our pace from practice, if we could have gotten where we wanted to be, was going to be around 18th to 20th. So, to miss it, was frustrating for me and the team. It was kind of confusion more than anything really for us in qualifying.” Next up: The Bitnile.com Grand Prix of Portland at Portland International Raceway, August 25, 2024, 3pm ET on USA.
Heartbreak for Harvey at World Wide Technology Raceway
Madison, Ill. (Saturday, August 17, 2024) – Dale Coyne Racing’s Jack Harvey (No. 18 INVST Honda, Dale Coyne Racing) was on his way to his best finish of the season when he was taken out during a restart with 10 laps remaining. As for his teammate Katherine Legge, (No. 51 e.l.f. Cosmetics Honda) she was involved in an early incident which put an end to her race on Lap 8. Jack Harvey, #18 INVST, Dale Coyne Racing Honda Started: 26th Finished: 20th •Harvey had a good start to the 260-lap race, moving up a couple of positions on the first lap. •He continued to move up, taking advantage of a couple of full course cautions and restarts. •The driver of the No. 18 INVST Honda was sitting 18th for the Lap 27 restart. •Harvey spent most of the first part of the race in the top 20 and moved into the top 16 on Lap 85. •He continued to run in the top 15 and was 12th when another full course caution came out on Lap 196. •The British driver was putting in competitive lap times, running as high as sixth at one point, and was on his way to what could have possibly been his best finish of the season. •Unfortunately, Harvey was hit from behind on a Lap 250 restart while he was in 12th. •The impact sent him spinning into the outside wall and down into the inside wall, putting an end to his race with less than 10 laps remaining. Post Race Quote “I’m not sure who it was that was behind me on the restart, but as I checked up because of the melee ahead of me, they didn’t, and hit me. I hit the outside wall and then the inside wall and that was the end of our race. It felt like we had a good race going. I thought the car was really quick, which is why our issue in qualifying was a disappointment. In the race we were on pace for our season best so that’s a shame. It’s such a bummer to get taken out so close to the end of the race, but maybe it’s helped us generate a little bit of momentum going into Portland next weekend.” Katherine Legge, #51 e.l.f. Cosmetics, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR Honda Started: 27th Finished: 27th •Legge’s race was unfortunately short-lived when she made contact with another competitor on Lap 8 of the 260-lap event. •While the No. 51 e.l.f. Cosmetics Honda suffered minimal damage in the incident, it was enough to put an end to what was her fourth NTT INDYCAR SERIES start of the season. Post Race Quote “It wasn’t a significant hit but just enough to put us out of the race. I was on the bottom trying to get by Ed Carpenter who was struggling. Unfortunately, we made contact and that was the end of the race for us. It’s unfortunate because our e.l.f. Cosmetics Honda was strong.” Next up: Bitnile.com Grand Prix of Portland, Sunday, August 25th, 2024
Fifteenth Place Finish for Toby Sowery in Toronto
Toronto, ON, Canada (Sunday, July 21, 2024) – Dale Coyne Racing’s Toby Sowery (#51 Global Karting League / Vuzix Honda) moved up from his 21st place in the starting grid to finish 15th in Sunday’s Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto. His teammate Hunter McElrea (#18 Courtesy Corporation Honda) was also putting in a great performance moving up the field until a slight touch of the wall damaged his suspenstion and put an end to his race. Toby Sowery, #51 Global Karting League / Vuzix, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR Honda Started: 21st Finished: 15th •Sowery moved up to 18th at the start of the 85-lap race. •He was running 16th when he made his first pit stop on Lap 20. •The rookie ran strong laps and stayed out of trouble. •He was running 19th when a multicar incident caused a red flag. •Sowery suffered slight wing damage in the incident but managed to avoid the melee ahead of him. •The British driver went on to finish 15th in what was his second NTT INDYCAR SERIES start. Post Race Quote “We ended up 15th, which is quite a step forward from where we qualified which is always a bonus. There were some big crashes out there, a lot of events going on and we were able to keep it clean. I think it pays just being that little bit smarter, protecting your position and just try to take a step forward bit by bit. The cars were good all weekend, Hunter (McElrea) did a great job, everyone at Dale Coyne Racing has done a great job. I think consistently we’re taking steps forward and improving closer to the front of the grid. I’m super happy that we finished the race in one piece. The car has been great all weekend and hopefully next time we’ll take another step forward and get closer to the front again.” Hunter McElrea, #18 Courtesy Corporation, Dale Coyne Racing Honda Started: 25th Finished: 24th •McElrea was making his NTT INDYCAR SERIES debut in Toronto this weekend. •He gained a couple a few positions at the start of the race and made his way up the ranks as the race progressed. •The rookie ran competitively as fast as the leaders thoughout his race. •He made his first pit stop from ninth on Lap 33. •McElrea then entered pit lane once again, from 10th, on Lap 53. •Unfortuantely for the driver of the #18 car, he got into the gray on his out lap and tapped the wall. •The tap was enough for the suspension to fail a few laps later and he entered pit lane on Lap 58. •The damage put an early end to his day. Post Race Quote “First IndyCar race in the books. We were moving forward and had really good pace, pretty much the same as the leaders which is awesome. On my last stint on my out lap, I kind of went in the grey and just brushed the wall. Unfortunately, a couple of laps later the suspension failed from that little brush. It’s unfortunate, I think we could have had a really good result. “Obviously it was not the end result we wanted, not the result the team deserved either but honestly, I’m super proud of what we did as a whole this weekend. I think we made a splash and showed great pace. I think, had we not had to start in the back we would have started comfortably in the top 15 and fighting with good pace at the front. It’s all what could have been but my first weekend in IndyCar, on paper, wasn’t the result we wanted but I just loved it. Thanks to Dale Coyne, Courtesy Corporation, and everyone for backing me and giving me this opportunity.” Next up: The Bommarito Automotive Group 500 at WorldWide Technology Raceway on August 17, 2024.
Dale Coyne Racing Streets of Toronto Qualifying Report
Toronto, ON, Canada (Saturday, July 20, 2024) – Dale Coyne Racing’s Hunter McElrea (#18 Courtesy Corporation Honda) and Toby Sowery (#51 Global Karting League / Vuzix Honda) took part in qualifying on Saturday for tomorrow’s Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto, after a promising practice session earlier in the day. Sowery, who is taking part in his second NTT INDYCAR SERIES race, will be starting 21st while McElrea will start 25th in his Series debut. Toby Sowery, #51 Global Karting League / Vuzix, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR Honda Starting: 21st •Sowery took to the track in Group 1, Round 1 of qualifying. •He kept improving his time with every lap and registered his fastest one around the tight 11-turn, 1.786-mile street course on his seventh and penultimate lap. •His time of 1:01.3367 placed him 11th in his group and 21st on the starting grid for Sunday’s race. Post Qualifying Quote “I’m happy to get my first NTT INDYCAR SERIES qualifying under my belt, after missing the opportunity to do so at Mid-Ohio. I feel super comfortable with the car and we’re consistently chipping away and taking the steps in the right direction. It’s a high risk, high punishment track so it’s a balancing act but I feel like every time we go out, we’re improving as a team and as a driver. I’m super happy with that. A couple more tenths and we’d be mixing it up with the top boys. We’re always wanting more, always pushing for more but considering the lack of time and the efforts going in, it’s a good progression. It should be exciting for tomorrow. We started at the back at Mid-Ohio, and we moved forward and again that’s the goal for tomorrow. With a good strategy and keeping it clean we’ll see how we end up.” Hunter McElrea, #18 Courtesy Corporation, Dale Coyne Racing Honda Starting: 25th •McElrea was taking part in his first ever NTT INDYCAR SERIES qualifying session. •After ending the morning practice session in 16th place, the rookie was hopeful when he headed out to qualify in Group 1, Round 1. •Unfortunately for McElrea, a mistake on his first lap sent him into the tire barrier in Turn 8 and that put an end to his qualifying effort. •The mistake put him 13th in his group and 25th on the starting grid for tomorrow’s Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto race. Post Qualifying Quote “My debut IndyCar weekend has been an awesome experience so far. I’m loving it. We’ve been super strong all weekend, with 16th in practice this morning and maybe even looking to potentially transfer to segment 2 in qualifying. The car was really good, we were excited and looking forward to it. A stupid mistake from me unfortunately cost us, and we didn’t get to do a lap. We’ll be starting from the back tomorrow but I’m hopeful as we have good speed. Thanks so much to the Dale Coyne Racing crew, sorry for my mistake but tomorrow we’ll push forward. It will be my first NTT INDYCAR SERIES race tomorrow so I’m excited to get something done.” Next up: The Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto, July 21, 2024, broadcast live on Peacock from 1pm ET.
Another Strong Performance for Katherine Legge in Iowa
Newton, IA (Sunday, July 14, 2024) – Dale Coyne Racing’s Katherine Legge had another strong run at Iowa Speedway on Sunday, taking the checkered flag in 24th place. Conor Daly, who was a substitute driver for an injured Jack Harvey, also ran competitively but a mechanical failure on his #18 INVST Honda put an early end to his race on Lap 139. Katherine Legge, #51 e.l.f. Cosmetics, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR Honda Started: 24th Finished: 24th •After placing 17th in Race 1 at Iowa Speedway on Saturday, Legge was confident heading into Race 2 on Sunday. •The driver of the #51 e.l.f. Cosmetics Honda picked up a few spots at the beginning of the race to take over 21st place. •With very little passing happening anywhere on track, Legge maintained her position for most of her first stint and had moved up to 17th by the time she entered pit lane on Lap 96. •An untimely yellow on Lap 100, caused her to fall to 24th once everyone had made their initial pit stops. •Legge continued to run competitively, running the same pace as the lead cars throughout the 250-lap event. •She made her final pit stop on Lap 200 and went on to take the checkered flag in 24th place. Post Race Quote “It was an unfortunate result for the pace that we had, I think had we been a bit luckier on the first yellow and not pitted when we did, I think we would have been fighting up there, but you can’t predict these things. When we were running around the lead pack, we were able to run their pace so, I guess next time we have to do better in qualifying to start closer to the front. It was great to have this experience this weekend and to keep learning as we go. The car was really good, so happy days.” Conor Daly, #18 INVST, Dale Coyne Racing Honda Started: 27th Finished: 27th •Jack Harvey’s replacement for Race 2 in Iowa, Conor Daly turned his first laps of the weekend aboard the #18 INVST car earlier in the day during a special on track session. •Due to the driver change, Daly had to start from the rear of the grid. •Daly ran strong right from the start, picking up a few positions in the opening laps. •He ran 24th for the near majority of his first stint. •Like his teammate, Daly was running as fast as the leaders and maintained the gaps to his closest competitors throughout his time on track. •He made his first pit stop from 24th on Lap 85. •Unfortunately for Daly, a mechanical failure on his Honda-powered machine ended his day on Lap 139. Post Race Quote “We had a mechanical issue of some kind. I just felt something go. You can kind of always know when that happens. It’s a shame but these things happen, this is motorsports, it’s a hard game to play. Until then I was having a lot of fun. I passed a lot of cars right off the gate and we were fast enough to be in the game. Dale Coyne Racing gave me a great car. I had a lot to learn and they were helping me out with it. It’s a shame that it had to end early for sure.” Next up: The Honda Indy Toronto, July 19 to 21, 2024.
Katherine Legge Finishes 17th in Race 1 at Iowa Speedway
Newton, IA (Saturday, July 13, 2024) – Dale Coyne Racing’s Katherine Legge put in a solid performance for race one of the Iowa Speedway doubleheader weekend, taking the checkered flag in 17th place. Her teammate, Jack Harvey, who has been dealing with severe back and neck pain since the previous round at Mid-Ohio, retired from the race after 28 laps. Harvey will be replaced by Conor Daly for Round 2 of the doubleheader weekend on Sunday. Daly will need to complete a special on track session at 9am ahead of the 11:30am green flag. Katherine Legge, #51 e.l.f. Cosmetics, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR Honda Started: 26th Finished: 17th Race 2: qualified 25th •Legge was taking part in her second NTT INDYCAR SERIES race this season, having competed at the Indianapolis 500 earlier this year. •She qualified 26th for Race 1 earlier in the day and will be starting Race 2 from 25th. •Legge had a great start to the 250-lap event, avoiding a crash ahead of her and moving up to 20th. •The driver of the #51 e.l.f. Cosmetics machine kept up with her competitors, keeping eventual seventh place finisher Kyle Kirkwood behind her. •She pit from 18th under yellow on Lap 84. •Unfortunately for Legge, she received a drive through penalty for being ‘out of line’ on the Lap 94 restart. •With Iowa Speedway being such a short track, the penalty sent her a couple of laps down into 21st place. •Legge continued to run strong the remainder of the event and while the penalty cost her dearly, she was able to move up more positions and cross the checkered flag in 17th. Post Race Quote “I’m really grateful to the Dale Coyne Racing e.l.f. crew for giving me a really good car. Honeslty, I think had things fallen a bit differently we could have been fighting up there at the shapt end. I made a few mistakes just kind of finding my feet in an IndyCar again. I love IndyCar racing, it was really to get a full race lenthe under my betl. I know the car is really good for tomorrow. We’ll take everything we learned today and hopefully make a top 12 tomorrow.” Jack Harvey, #18 INVST, Dale Coyne Racing Honda Started: 18th Finished: 25th •Harvey, who was making his first oval start of the season today, had a good qualifying session earlier in the day, placing his car 18th on the starting grid for both Race 1 and 2. •Unfortunately for Harvey who has been struggling with severe neck and back pain, he had to retire early. Conor Daly – on substituting for Jack Harvey in Race 2 on Sunday “I obviously feel bad taking on this role, you hate to see it for Jack. He’s one of my closest friends here. I’ve been in the 18 car before, oddly enough it had a similar paint scheme as my rookie year here with this same race team so it brings back a lot of memories. I just want to do the best I can for everyone here. Everyone that supports this group, all the people that have put in the work so far this season. This is a track that I love. That I’m very familiar with. Obviously, the new surface is something I’m going to have to learn on the fly and it’s the first time in the hybrid car. I just appreciate everyone getting me up to speed as best they can, and we’ll obviously go after it. I don’t know what’s going to happen, we’ll just do the best we can with what we’ve got.” Next up: The Hy-Vee One Step 250 at Iowa Speedway July 14, 2024.
Strong Run Puts Toby Sowery 13th in NTT INDYCAR SERIES Debut at Mid-Ohio
Lexington, OH (Sunday, July 7, 2024) – Dale Coyne Racing’s Toby Sowery made an impression in his NTT INDYCAR SERIES debut moving up from his 24th place on the starting grid to finish 13th thanks to a strong performance aboard his No. 51 Global Karting League / Vuzix Honda. His teammate Jack Harvey, who has been suffering from neck and shoulder pain all weekend, also put in a strong performance but a stall in pit lane set him back to finish 26th. Toby Sowery, #51 Global Karting League / Vuzix, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR Honda Started: 24th Finished: 13th •Sowery who was making his NTT INDYCAR SERIES debut at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this weekend, moved up three positions at the start of the race. •He maintained his 21st place in the opening laps and then steadily moved up the field. •The rookie made his first stop for fuel and a set of alternate Firestone tires from 13th on Lap 25. •He continued to run competitively keeping drivers such as Romain Grosjean and Josef Newgarden behind him. •He once again entered pit lane on Lap 53 for fuel and another set of the alternate Firestone tires. •With cars on different strategies, he exited the pits in 21st place and made his way back up the field. •He took over 13th one last time on Lap 77 and maintained his position while closing in on the car ahead of him to take the checkered flag in that position. •Sowery finished the race with the most on track passes of any driver in the field with 10. Post Race Quote “I’m super happy with that race. Obviously going into it, we didn’t really know what to expect. It was a bit unfortunate with qualifying yesterday. It’s a completely new chapter and a new learning experience for me, so to come away with 13th and fighting the big teams on merit not a lucky situation or on strategy, just pure pace and good calls from the team, I’m super happy. I’m also pretty tired, it was a challenge mentally and physically. I want to thank Dale Coyne, Chariots, Global Karting League, Vuzix and everyone that has come on board. Everyone has put in their efforts, I wouldn’t be here without them and it’s a group effort that got us here.” Jack Harvey, #18 INVST, Dale Coyne Racing Honda Started: 26th Finished: 26th •Harvey who was suffering from neck and shoulder pain all weekend gained a couple of positions at the start. •He was running 18th by Lap 13 and had moved into 14th before making his first pit stop on Lap 26. •Unfortunately for Harvey, he stalled upon exiting his pit box and that sent him back to 26th in the field. •Harvey continued to push through the pain and registered competitive race laps, but the time lost on his first stop ultimately cost him in the end and he took the checkered flag in 26th place. Post Race Quote “I’ve never driven with that level of pain before. I’ve had food poisoning and I’ve been able to drive no problem, but this was a whole different thing. I was really concerned before the race that I wasn’t going to be able to finish it. I’ve been having some upper back and neck spasms. INDYCAR Medical have been brilliant today in trying to help me through it, through a variety of different procedures. About 20 laps into the race, I was just gassed. We need to check what happened with the stall, cause the warmup wasn’t good either, in the race we stalled on the first stop and the getaway on the second stop wasn’t good so there’s something we need to look at there. At the end of the race, I couldn’t push any harder than I physically was able to and haven’t been in that situation before so that was a shame.” Next up: The Hy-Vee Homefront 250 at Iowa Speedway July 13, 2024.
Dale Coyne Racing Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Qualifying Report
Lexington, OH (Saturday, July 6, 2024) – Dale Coyne Racing’s qualifying for the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio didn’t go as planned on Saturday with Toby Sowery suffering a hybrid-issue which placed him 26th on the grid for tomorrow’s race while teammate Jack Harvey qualified 27th. Jack Harvey, #18 INVST, Dale Coyne Racing Honda Starting: 27th •Harvey went out in Group 2 of qualifying. •He registered a fastest lap time of 1:06.9614 on this eighth and final lap of the 10-minute session. •His time placed him 14th in his group and 27th on the starting grid. •Harvey has a best finish if fifth in seven starts at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Post Qualifying Quote “I feel like I’m repeating myself, once again we made progress throughout the practice sessions but when it came time to put it all together for qualifying we were unable move up on the time sheets. It will be a long race tomorrow and anything can happen. We’ll just keep pushing forward and hopefully we can come out of Mid-Ohio with a decent result.” Toby Sowery, #51 Global Karting League / Vuzix, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR Honda Starting: 26th •Sowery is making his NTT INDYCAR SERIES debut at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this weekend. •He took to the track in Group 1, Round 1 of qualifying. •Unfortunately for the rookie, an error code caused the hybrid engine to shut down after Sowery stalled his car when trying to exit his pit box. •With no one familiar with the process to clear the code, Honda lost time manually resetting the system. •Sowery only had time to register one-lap in the 10-minute session. Post Qualifying Quote “Definitely not the qualifying we wanted which is a shame as I would have really enjoyed attacking to see where we stand, however tomorrow is a long day and our race car seems competitive. Things happen in racing and it’s about understanding and learning while progressing forward so it’s something we will take on the chin. I have full confidence in Dale Coyne Racing and Honda to find and resolve the issues from today!” Next up: The Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, July 7, 2024, will be broadcast live on NBC starting at 1:30pm ET.
Dale Coyne Racing Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey Race Report
Salinas, California (Sunday, June 23, 2024) – Dale Coyne Racing had a good start to the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey with both its cars running a good race pace. However, Luca Ghiotto’s (#51 GAV Air Technology Honda) race came to an early end when he went off track on Lap 35. His teammate Jack Harvey (#18 INVST Honda) saw his race end due to an engine issue with 13 laps remaining. Jack Harvey, #18 INVST, Dale Coyne Racing Honda Started: 26th Finished: 25th •Harvey had a strong start to the 95-lap race, gaining a couple of positions at the start to move into 24th. •By Lap 6 he was up to 22nd, where he remained for most of his first stint. •The driver of the #18 INVST car headed to pit lane on Lap 23 for fuel and to switch to the alternate Firestone tire. •Harvey then took advantage of a full course caution to pit once again on Lap 37 for fuel and tires. •He made it as high as 16th during his second stint and headed to pit lane for his final stop on Lap 66. •The DCR driver was on his way to a strong finish, but an engine issue put an end to his race right after completing Lap 82. Post Race Quote “There’s not much to say about that really when you have smoke coming out the back of the car that’s never a good sign. It was actually the first time in a race I’ve ever had an engine fail, which I think with the number of races I’ve done it’s a pretty good stat. I know Honda are always shipping out as reliable engines as possible. It’s not a common thing that’s happened to me before which I think is a positive thing but obviously it’s frustrating today because I think where we were going to end up would have been pretty solid all things considered. Outside of qualifying, our pace for the rest of the weekend has been decent. I’m disappointed for everyone on the team that we couldn’t just finish it off today. If you’re going to get to Lap 82 in a 95-lap race, it would be pretty nice to just finish it so that’s a bummer but those things happen. We’ll get to Mid-Ohio with a fresh motor so hopefully we can do better there.” Luca Ghiotto, #51 GAV Air Technology, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR Honda Started: 27th Finished: 27th •Ghiotto gained a couple of positions at the start of the race. •He entered pit lane for fuel and a set of alternate Firestone tires on Lap 22. •The driver of the #51 car was putting in laps as quick as the leaders and was running strong when he lost control of the car on entry to Turn 4. •Having gone offline and consequently off track, Ghiotto’s day ended when his car hit the tire barrier, causing race ending damage. •Ghiotto ended the day with the 13th fastest lap of the race. Post Race Quote “It’s really disappointing because the car was fast today. I lost it on entry to Turn 4 and went offline, I was trying to get the car back on track but at those high speeds and in the sand there I couldn’t control the car. It wasn’t a huge shunt, but it caused quite a bit of damage to the car and ended our race too early. I’m sorry to the team. We had a good car today and I was hoping to get to the checkered flag.” Next up: The Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, July 7, 2024
Dale Coyne Racing Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey Qualifying Report
Salinas, California (Saturday, June 22, 2024) – Dale Coyne Racing took part in qualifying on Saturday for the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey. Jack Harvey (#18 INVST) qualified 26th and Luca Ghiotto (#51 GAV Air Technology) placed 27th on the grid for Sunday’s NTT INDYCAR SERIES race. Jack Harvey, #18 INVST, Dale Coyne Racing Honda Starting: 26th •Harvey took to the track in Group 2 for Segment 1 of qualifying. •He went out on the alternate Firestone tires for both of his outings. •He registered a best time of 1:08.4730 on his sixth of eight laps he completed in the 10-minute session. •Harvey has a best finish of 15th in three starts at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Post Qualifying Quote “Obviously it was a disappointing session. I feel like things had been trending a little bit better than that through practice. The field is really competitive right now and it’s really, really hard. I’m sure between me and Luca you can look through the day and find where he was quicker than me and I was quicker than him, but the amount that we’re looking for right now isn’t going to be found only in our driving. There’s a lot of work that we need to do. I think it was a bit of a dejecting session because at least through the start of the weekend it felt like we were better than where we ended up today. Hopefully we’ll have a good race, we’re always positive about that. We saw last year that it can be a bit of a mental race so as long as we see the checkered flag and we’re on the lead lap then something good can happen.” Luca Ghiotto, #51 GAV Air Technology, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR Honda Starting: 27th •Ghiotto went out in Group 2 for Segment 1 of qualifying. •The driver of the #51 GAV Air Technology Honda improved with every lap and put in a fastest time of 1:08.5078 on his eighth and final lap of the session. •Ghiotto is making his fourth NTT INDYCAR SERIES start of the season. Post Qualifying Quote “Laguna Seca is such a great track, I love it! It’s one of those tracks that is on your wish list to drive one day. I don’t know how many hours I spent driving this track on video games while I was younger so it’s great to be here driving it for real. The atmosphere is great and it’s also my first time in California so it’s nice to see a bit of a different part of the United States. Regarding qualifying today, I think where we ended up was disappointing, because it felt like our performance was better than the end result. Tomorrow is another day, and I’m confident that we can do better in the race.” Next up: The Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey, June 21 – 23, 2024, USA and Peacock from 6pm ET.
Dale Coyne Racing XPEL Grand Prix at Road America Race Report
Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin (Sunday, June 9, 2024) – Dale Coyne Racing saw its drivers Luca Ghiotto (#51 GAV Air Technology Honda) and Jack Harvey (#18 INVST Honda) take the checkered flag in 22nd and 25th place respectively in Sunday’s Grand Prix at Road America. Luca Ghiotto, #51 GAV Air Technology, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR Honda Started: 23rd Finished: 20th •Ghiotto made contact with Rahal on the first lap of the 55-lap race. •Following the incident, he had to serve a drive through penalty for avoidable contact which sent him to the back of the field and into 26th place. •Despite the setback, the Italian driver had decent pace throughout the race and was able to climb a few more positions as the race went on. •He went on to cross the finish line in 22nd place. Post Qualifying Quote “I made a mistake at the beginning of the race when I touched Rahal and made him spin and they gave us a penalty for avoidable contact. I’m sorry to him, for messing up his race. After serving the penalty, we were far from our competitors so there was no one to fight with on track around us. Our pace wasn’t too bad, I think we could have been fighting for a spot in the top 15 had we not been penalized. There’s still some work to do for Laguna Seca in a couple of weeks, but I’m quite confident in the team and looking forward to the next race.” Jack Harvey, #18 INVST, Dale Coyne Racing Honda Started: 20th Finished: 25th •Harvey had a great start to the 55-lap race, avoiding trouble ahead of him and picking up five positions on the first lap. •He made his first pit stop from 15th on Lap 16. •Unfortunately for Harvey, his race was hampered by an issue with the left front suspension on Lap 38. •The driver of the #18 INVST car had to pit for repairs and lost four laps to the leaders in the process. •He took the checkered flag in 25th position. Post Qualifying Quote “The positive in this race was turn 1, lap 1 when I managed to put myself in a pretty good position to capitalize on some of the other mistakes that were made. I was plus five from where I started as I finished lap 1 in 15th. That was the highlight of the day, unfortunately. We’re lacking straight line speed. We don’t really understand why, right now, but we’re looking into it. I think realistically we were battling for 19th or 20th today but then just before our penultimate stop we had an issue with the left front suspension and that put us down a few laps and to the back of the field. Onto Laguna!” Next up: The Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey, June 21 – 23, 2024.
Harvey to Start from the Tenth Row at Road America, Ghiotto on Row 12
Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin (Saturday, June 8, 2024) – Dale Coyne Racing’s Jack Harvey (#18 INVST Honda) and Luca Ghiotto (#51 GAV Air Technology Honda) qualified 20th and 23rd respectively in Saturday’s rain-soaked qualifying session for tomorrow’s XPEL Grand Prix at Road America. Jack Harvey, #18 INVST, Dale Coyne Racing Honda Starting: 20th •Harvey took to the track in Group 2, Round 1 of qualifying. •With a wet track and a light drizzle still falling, all cars went out on wet tires for the 12-minute session. •Harvey was sitting 14th in his group when a red flag came out with 3:27 remaining in the session. •The driver of the No. 18 INVST Honda entered pit lane at that time for a scrubbed set of wet tires. •With time for only one fast lap, Harvey registered a time of 2:02. 9443 which placed him 10th in his group and 20th on the starting grid. •Harvey has a best finish of 13th at Road America (2022). Post Qualifying Quote “Obviously the rain threw a huge spanner in the works. Today, we tried to go out in the morning practice session but every time we went out there was a red flag and we had to come back in. I think that hurt us a little bit today. For qualifying, there was a red about halfway through, we came in and made a tire pressure adjustment and went back out and the car was completely transformed, in a good way. On the whole, P10 in our group, I think we can race from there and that’s the important thing. Thanks to everyone at Dale Coyne Racing. Let’s have a good day tomorrow.” Luca Ghiotto, #51 GAV Air Technology, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR Honda Starting: 23rd •Ghiotto, who turned his first laps at Road America yesterday, was in Group 1 for Round 1 of qualifying. •With rain still falling and the track quite wet, Ghiotto took to the track with wet weather tires. •He registered his fastest lap time of 2:05.1341 on his fourth lap. •The time initially placed him 10th in his group, but he would end up 12th in Group 1 and 23rd on the starting grid when the checkered flag fell on the 12-minute session. Post Qualifying Quote “Qualifying didn’t go as planned for us today at Road America. We were a bit off on the wet tires and that hurt us today in qualifying. But I’m loving this track so far. It’s a great track. It’s just that today has been pretty wet between practice 2 and qualifying. Tomorrow we’ll start 23rd for the race and we’ll see what we can do from there.” Next up: The XPEL Grand Prix at Road America, goes green at 3:35pm ET June 9, 2024.
Harvey and Vautier Survive Caution-Filled Detroit Grand Prix
DETROIT (Sunday, June 2, 2024) – Dale Coyne Racing’s Jack Harvey (#18 INVST Honda) and Tristan Vautier (#51 Falcon Motosports Honda) put in solid performances at the Detroit Grand Prix on Sunday and survived what was a caution-filled race to take the checkered flag 17th and 18th, respectively. Jack Harvey, #18 INVST, Dale Coyne Racing Honda Started: 26th Finished: 17th •Harvey took advantage of the first caution period to make his first stop on Lap 2 and switch to the alternate Firestone tire. •He then made his way up the field and was in 21st by the time he entered pit lane for his second stop on Lap 34, once again under caution. •With rain coming down and the track getting slick, he returned to pit lane two laps later for rain tires. •Once the rain let up, the track dried quickly, and Harvey took advantage of another caution period to return to slick tires during a Lap 42 caution. •He was sitting 19th when the race returned to green flag conditions on Lap 46 and he would climb another two positions to 17th when another caution came out later that lap. •The driver of the #18 INVST car made his final stop on Lap 65, under yellow, and went on to cross the finish line in 17th. Post Qualifying Quote “I think we did very well today all things considered. Scoring points was the important thing. We started 26th and finished 17th which is a good result. The guys did a good job in pit lane, I think we beat a couple of cars out every time we were racing with people. There’s a lot of good pieces to this puzzle. We were lacking speed all weekend, that was no secret. I thought the race was going to be tough, it was, but ultimately, we did what we needed to do today, which was stay on the lead lap and stay out of most of the trouble. I was aggressive when I needed to be, I wasn’t aggressive when I didn’t see the risk and reward in the right way and in the end we’re leaving Detroit not satisfied with the pace, maybe a little bit with the result but hoping for a lot more at Road America next weekend.” Tristan Vautier, #51 Falcon Motorsports, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR Honda Started: 24th Finsihed: 18th •Vautier made his first pit stop during the second caution of the 100-lap race, heading to pit lane on lap 17 from 25th. •The Frenchman then elected to stay out and on dry weather tires when others headed to pit lane for rain tires during an 8-lap caution that started on Lap 34. •Unlike a good portion of the field, Vautier didn’t switch to rain tires when the track got slippery. •The call to not pit for wet weather tires put him in eighth place to take the green flag on Lap 46. •Unfortunately for the driver of the #51 Honda, he fell to 22nd after the restart when he got pushed into the Turn 5 run off when avoiding contact with another car that dove into the turn. •Vautier and his team then took a gamble and pit for fuel only on Lap 56 during another caution period. •With the amount of caution laps up until that point, the team was hoping to make it to the end on fuel while double stinting the tires. •The gamble placed him third and while he held off his competitors for a handful of laps, the waning alternate tires caused him to lose positions as the race went on. •Additionally, with the race remaining green from a Lap 74 restart to the end, Vautier had to pit for fuel and tires on Lap 96. •He crossed the finish line in 18th, right behind his teammate. Post Qualifying Quote “It was a tough day. It was chaos out there and I tried to stay out of trouble. The guys took a big gamble on strategy, it almost worked. Unfortunately, we couldn’t make it to the end on fuel and doing the double stint on the tires was tough on the alternate tire. It didn’t work out, but we gave it a good go. It was great to be back. I felt we were solid. We lacked a bit of pace over the weekend but overall positive. We almost got a top 10 had we managed to pull off that strategy call.” Next up: The XPEL Grand Prix at Road America, June 9, 2024.
Early Heartbreak for Legge in Indy 500
INDIANAPOLIS (Sunday, May 26, 2024) – Dale Coyne Racing’s Katherine Legge (#51 e.l.f. Cosmetics Honda) was running strong early on in the 200-lap event. However, her fourth Indianapolis 500 ended in heartbreak on Lap 23 due to an engine issue. Katherine Legge, #51 e.l.f. Cosmetics, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR Honda Started: 31st Finished: 29th •Legge who was starting 31st gained one spot at the start to move into 30th •She took advantage of an early yellow to pit for fuel only on Lap 4. •The driver of the #51 e.l.f. Cosmetics Honda was running 28th when the race returned to green flag conditions on Lap 10. •Legge was running competitive lap times and staying with her closest competitors following her stop. •However, she had to head to pit lane when smoke started coming out of her car on Lap 23. •Unfortunately for the only female driver in the field, an engine issue put an early end to her day. •She ended up 29th on the results sheet. Post-Race Quote “We’re not sure what happened other than it was an engine issue. It’s really disappointing obviously. I’m completely gutted. I was hanging out in the back, finding my feet, ready to make a move. Had I known my race was going to be that short I may have pushed a bit harder in the first stint but that’s racing, and these things happen, unfortunately. While I feel absolutely gutted right now, I will regroup and try and come again next year. Thank you to e.l.f. and thank you to this whole girl power movement. I’m very grateful to Dale (Coyne) for giving me this opportunity and to e.l.f. and the fans. It gives me more motivation to come back next year.” Next up: The team will be back in action next weekend for the Detroit Grand Prix, May 30 to June 2, 2024.
INDIANAPOLIS (Saturday, May 11, 2024) – Dale Coyne Racing drivers Jack Harvey (#18 INVST Honda) and Luca Ghiotto (#51 Bimecc, Honda, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR) both had a strong start to Saturday’s Sonsio Grand Prix as the team continued to show its progress. However, a damper failure on Harvey’s car meant he had to settle for 19th while a mistake by Ghiotto late in the race sent him to the back of the field and 25th at the finish. Jack Harvey, #18 INVST, Dale Coyne Racing Honda Started: 17th Finished: 19th •Harvey had a great start to the 85-lap event, moving up 6 positions and into 11th place despite being hit on the first lap. •He had great pace in his first stint and was running 12th before making his first pit stop on Lap 16. •The British driver continued to run strong but started lacking pace later in the event as he fell as low as 21st. •He made his third and final stop on Lap 63. •While he successfully battled with Josef Newgarden for 18th place on the Lap 68 restart, he fell to 19th four laps later. •The team discovered a part failure during a post-race inspection of his #18 INVST machine that hindered Harvey’s pace in the race. Post Qualifying Quote “I think the race was more confusing than anything. I went from 17th to 11th in the first corner so that was really great. Unfortunately, that was probably the peak of my race in Turn 1, Lap 1. After that it just kind of went downhill. I don’t really understand why at the moment. We’ve been quicker than our teammate all weekend and then in the race we just seemed to really struggle. We’ll look into it and find out why. In the end we brought home the car in one piece and that’s how it went. It’s disappointing, especially after how our qualifying went where we had a bit more pace than what we showed, the warmup was quite good, and then I get to turn 1 and I thought let’s have a day but it just didn’t go that way.” Luca Ghiotto, #51 Bimecc, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR Honda Started: 22nd Finished: 25th •Ghiotto, who was making his second NTT INDYCAR SERIES start, showed great progress throughout the 85-lap event. •The rookie ran competitively and continuously gained on his closest competitors. •Unfortunately for Ghiotto, he stalled his #51 Honda after spinning on Lap 65 exiting Turn 10, while running fifth. •The Dale Coyne Racing driver had to wait for the AMR Safety Team to restart him and he lost a lap in the process. •While he reduced the gap to the car in front of him with every remaining lap, he still had to settle with a 25th place finish. Post Qualifying Quote “It was a really sad end because it was going very well for us, we were moving forward. But I made a mistake coming out of turn 10 and I touched the grass on the exit and spun. Unfortunately, I stalled the engine and I had to wait for the Safety Team to start the car up again, so I lost a lap in the process. It’s a shame because we were doing well. I think it was a very good step forward from Barber in the race and I probably could have finished in the top 15. As I said, it’s a shame but there’s some good positives to take from the race.” Next up: The team now turns its attention to the 108th Running of the Indianapolis 500 where Nolan Siegel will take over driving duties of the #18 Honda powered entry, while Katherine Legge will be behind the wheel of the #51 e.l.f. Honda. Practice on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval starts Tuesday, May 14 at 9am ET. The Indianapolis 500 takes part Sunday, May 26.
Dale Coyne Racing Qualifying Report Sonsio Grand Prix at IMS
INDIANAPOLIS (Friday, May 10, 2024) – Dale Coyne Racing continued to show progress on Friday, as the team put in their best qualifying performance so far this season. Jack Harvey (#18 INVST, Dale Coyne Racing) qualified 17th for Saturday’s Sonsio Grand Prix, while his teammate Luca Ghiotto (#51 Bimecc, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR) qualified 22nd for his second NTT INDYCAR SERIES race. Jack Harvey, #18 INVST, Dale Coyne Racing Honda Starting: 17th •Harvey went out in Group 1, Round 1 of the 10-minute qualifying session. •He was sitting 11th in his group when he entered pit lane for a set of alternate Firestone tires about halfway through the session. •The driver of the #18 INVST Honda then jumped up to second in his group with a lap of 1:09.3254 on his penultimate lap of the 2.439-mile circuit. •Harvey ended up 9th in his group and 17th on the starting grid once all cars had taken the checkered. •He was less than two tenths of a second from transferring to the second round. Post Qualifying Quote “Progress is relative, however you want to slice it, if you take out the ‘coulda, shoulda, woulda’, this is the best qualifying we’ve had this season so that’s a positive step for us. Everyone knows that Indy is a good track for me, so if you’re basing it off of what I’ve done here in the past, then maybe not my best day here. However, as a global effort, there’s a lot of effort going in right now and that’s the bit people don’t see and don’t appreciate. Everybody at Dale Coyne Racing is working really hard to try and put us in a position to improve. Practice 2 didn’t go the way we wanted it to, I had a spin and that put us on the backfoot so in the end it was a pretty good recovery going into qualifying. Like I say to everybody, if we just keep chipping away, we’ll get there.” Luca Ghiotto, #51 Bimecc, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR Honda Starting: 22nd •Ghiotto took to the track in Group 2, Round 1 of qualifying. •The rookie, who discovered the track for the first time, earlier that day in practice, registered a fastest lap of 1:09.4519 which initially placed him second. •Unfortunately for the #51 driver, a local yellow flag on his final lap meant he wasn’t able to improve his lap time and he had to settle for 11th in his group and 22nd on the starting grid. •In such a close and competitive field, his time was just three tenths from making it to the second round. Post Qualifying Quote “It was an improvement compared to Barber, so we’re happy with that but at the same time I’m a bit frustrated because on my best lap there was a local yellow flag. I was improving by a couple of tenths on that lap so if I hadn’t slowed a bit to acknowledge the yellow, I think we could have improved a couple of positions. I’m still happy but it was a bittersweet qualifying I would say.” Next up: Sonsio Grand Prix at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Saturday, May 11 at 3pm ET on NBC and Peacock.
Harvey Comes Back from Early Contact to Finish 13th at Barber Motorsports Park
Leeds, Alabama (Sunday, April 28, 2024) – Dale Coyne Racing’s Jack Harvey came back from opening lap contact that sent him to the back of the field to finish 13th in Sunday’s Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix. His teammate, Luca Ghiotto in the Dale Coyne Racing with RWR entry, also put in a solid performance in what was his first NTT INDYCAR SERIES race by taking the checkered flag on the lead lap in 21st place. Jack Harvey, #18 INVST, Dale Coyne Racing Honda Started: 22nd Finished: 13th •Harvey got spun around in Turn 1 on the opening lap of the 90-lap event. •Fortunately for the driver of the No. 18 INVST car, he was able to continue, despite falling to 26th from his 22nd place on the starting grid. •He took advantage of an early full course caution to make his first stop on Lap 7 and was running 23rd on the Lap 11 restart. •Harvey then made his second stop on Lap 35 and once again took advantage of a full course caution to stop for fuel and a set of alternate Firestone tires on Lap 46, exiting pit lane in 21st. •Thanks to the team’s strategy and his on-track pace, Harvey found himself in 13th place following his final stop on Lap 75 •Harvey could have potentially finished in the top ten had it not been for a final full course caution on Lap 85 that allowed the fuel saving cars ahead of him to make it to the end. Post Qualifying Quote “It was a lively race today. I seem to keep getting caught up in other people’s incidents. At the wrong place, at the wrong time. I spun in Turn 1 and went backwards through the gravel, but somehow, we still finished 13th. I think had that last yellow not happened, we could have had a top 10 finish today. It was a great strategy call by everyone on the 18 stand. I keep telling everybody, I feel like the momentum is building and whether there’s a bit of help of not, we’re showing it. I think we could have transferred to the second round of qualifying yesterday, and we finished 13th today. Overall, it was a pretty good weekend here at Barber Motorsports Park. Hopefully we’re building a little bit of momentum for May and we can keep this No. 18 INVST Dale Coyne Racing Honda on the sharper end and keep improving every weekend.” Luca Ghiotto, #51 Bimecc, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR Honda Started: 21st Finished: 21st •Ghiotto was making his first NTT INDYCAR SERIES race start at Barber Motorsports Park after having only driven the car for the first time earlier this week during practice 1. •The rookie lost a few positions at the start but kept up with the cars ahead of him. •He took advantage of a full course caution to make his first stop on Lap 7 and continued to maintain a strong pace throughout his second stint. •On an alternate pit strategy, he ran as high as fifth before making his second stop on Lap 39. •Ghiotto returned to the pits on Lap 47 during a full course caution for a set of the alternate Firestone tire. •He made his final pit stop on Lap 56, exiting pit lane in 24th place and went on to take the checkered flag in 21st place. •The former Formula 2 driver finished ahead of experienced drivers such as Pato O’Ward and Alexander Rossi. Post Qualifying Quote “It was a long race and I’m happy that I got to the end. This is probably the most physical race car to drive in the world and I honestly was not sure I was fit enough to do a 90-lap race! So that was the first goal and I’m happy that we made it. As for the race itself, I think I made a little bit too many mistakes. Doing pit stops, everything was new for me, especially going from the reds to the primary tires. Every lap was something new. On one side, I’m happy that I had that experience because I learned more from those mistakes, and I’ll be more prepared when I get to Indy. I’m really looking forward to it now. It feels good now to know that I’ve been through an entire race weekend. When everything is new everything is stressful, and it was a busy week so next time in Indy it will much more relax and I can just focus on driving.” Next up: Sonsio Grand Prix at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Saturday, May 11 at 3pm ET on NBC and Peacock.
F2 Standout Luca Ghiotto to Drive No. 51 DCR with RWR entry at Barber Motorsports Park and Indianapolis Grand Prix
Plainfield, Illinois (Thursday, April 25, 2024) – Dale Coyne Racing has signed Formula 2 veteran and current European Le Mans Series driver Luca Ghiotto to drive its No. 51 entry for the upcoming rounds at Barber Motorsports Park and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. Ghiotto is an Italian race car driver with seven F2 wins under his belt. After five full seasons in the FIA Formula 2 Championship where he finished as high as third in the standings, he moved to sportscar racing where he’s competed since 2020. He’s recently served as test and simulator driver for the Nissan Formula E team in 2022-2023. “I’m very excited to be making my NTT INDYCAR SERIES debut this weekend at Barber Motorsports Park,” shared Ghiotto, who met up with the team in Chicago this week. “I’ve spent the majority of my career overseas but was always intrigued and wanting to try IndyCar. It will be my first time driving this car and my first time at this track, so there’s a steep learning curve and challenge ahead of me but I am very much looking forward to it.” Ghiotto who has substantial experience aboard open wheel race cars, was also a test and reserve driver for the Williams Formula One team in 2017. “We know it won’t be an easy first race for Luca jumping in the car like this with no testing whatsoever,” said Team Owner Dale Coyne. “That said, he has plenty of experience in different types of race cars and has proven himself over the years. We look forward to seeing what he can do in the next two races and know that he will bring experience and knowledge to the team.” Ghiotto will get his first laps aboard an NTT INDYCAR SERIES car on Friday, April 25 starting at 3:40pm ET when drivers take to the track for the first practice session of the weekend. He will get one more practice in on Saturday morning (12:15pm ET) before qualifying that afternoon (3:30pm ET). The Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix goes green on Sunday, April 28 at 1:40pm ET and will be broadcast live on NBC starting at 1pm ET.
Dale Coyne Racing Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach Race Report
Long Beach, California (Sunday, April 21, 2024) – Dale Coyne Racing saw both drivers take the checkered flag at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach on Sunday. Rookie Nolan Siegel climbed seven spots in his No. 51 King Taco machine to finish 20th and No. 18 INVST driver Jack Harvey placed 25th after contact with another competitor during his first stint. Nolan Siegel, #51 King Taco, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR Honda Started: 27th Finished: 20th •Siegel was making his first points-paying start at Long Beach, after making his NTT INDYCAR SERIES debut at Thermal last month. •The rookie made steady progress throughout the race moving up three positions before a Lap 15 full course caution. •Siegel ran competitive lap times keeping up with his closest competitors. •He made his first pit stop on Lap 30, exiting pit lane in 24th place. •He was running 23rd after his second stop on Lap 58 and went on to gain three more positions before taking the checkered flag in 20th place. Post-Race Quote “My first full length standard IndyCar race is done. It was a long one, the guys did a great job. The car was much better in the race than I think it has been all weekend so props to the team for making that improvement. We had good stops, it went smoothly. We picked up seven spots and our pace seemed pretty strong. It’s really hard to pass around here. I feel good and overall, I’m happy with the day. Huge thank you to everyone that’s helped me along the way and this weekend and let’s see if we can do better in Indy.” Jack Harvey, #18 INVST, Dale Coyne Racing Honda Started: 23rd Finished: 25th •Harvey gained a couple of positions throughout his first stint and was running 21ston Lap 15 when he tried to avoid a spinning car in front of him. •Unfortunately for the No. 18 INVST driver, he wasn’t completely able to avoid contact and suffered damage to his car which sent him down pit lane for repairs. •Despite the setback, Harvey was able to continue in the race, but the damage was done. •After falling to 26th following his incident, he was able to gain one more position and take the checkered flag in 25th. Post-Race Quote “In the first part of the race, we moved up a couple spots and then Rasmussen spun in front of me and I had nowhere to go. He hit me as he was spinning back down the track and it damaged the floor, and the sidepod and I lost a ton of downforce and grip because of that and that was pretty much the race. I think the positives from the weekend are that we were better today than we were yesterday. I think we moved the car along so hopefully we can continue that little bit of momentum that we built there. Obviously, it didn’t show in the race unfortunately, but if we can start progressing in the weekend like we did from yesterday to today then I think we’ll start seeing some real progress for Dale Coyne Racing.” Next up: Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix, Sunday, April 28 at 1pm ET on NBC.
King Taco to Sponsor No. 51 Nolan Siegel Entry at Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach
Plainfield, IL (Wednesday, April 17, 2024) – As part of its 50th anniversary celebration, authentic Mexican food favorite King Taco will be the primary sponsor on California native Nolan Siegel’s No. 51 Dale Coyne Racing with RWR Honda-powered entry for this weekend’s Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. “I was already looking forward to my first race on the streets of Long Beach, but now I’m even more excited as I get to also represent an iconic California staple,” expressed driver Nolan Siegel, who hails from Palo Alto, California. “I want to thank the Martinez family for their support this weekend, I’m honored to be sporting their colors and hope to make them proud. I can’t wait to get behind the wheel of the No. 51 King Taco car as I take on my first full NTT INDYCAR SERIES weekend in front of family and friends.” King Taco has a long and storied history with the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, in addition to its role as a food vendor at the 1.968-mile, 11-turn temporary street circuit where their familiar King Taco Food Truck has become a popular stop for race fans throughout the weekend, they have partnered with the event for the last 30 years as the official Mexican sponsor and are the longest continuous sponsor in the current history of the event. From humble beginnings as a mobile taco-making station converted from an ice cream truck to its present-day expansion of more than 20 locations throughout Southern California, King Taco founders Raúl and Maria Martinez’s legacy has been the pinnacle of food and culture for half a century. The Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach takes place April 19 to 21, 2024. The race will be broadcast live on USA and Peacock starting at 3:00pm ET.
Katherine Legge to Pilot the No. 51 e.l.f. Cosmetics entry for Dale Coyne Racing at 2024 Indianapolis 500

The car will feature primary sponsorship from e.l.f. Cosmetics who is expanding its partnership with Legge and proudly becoming the first-ever beauty brand to serve as a primary sponsor of an entry at the Indianapolis 500. “I’m honored to be back at the 500 to represent such a groundbreaking and historic effort put forward by e.l.f.,” said Legge. “e.l.f. is truly changing the face of motorsports by lifting women up and challenging norms. Janet Guthrie set the stage for this type of moment back in the ‘70s and I’m honored to carry it forward with Dale Coyne Racing with RWR this year. When I was nine years old, I decided I wanted to be a race car driver, and I never would have dreamed a beauty brand would one day be my primary sponsor in the Indy 500. Together with DCR, Honda, and e.l.f., we will truly empower women who are breaking barriers, pushing boundaries, and testing the limits by giving them the confidence and a path towards realizing their dreams, whatever they may be!” e.l.f. first partnered with Legge at the 2023 Indy 500 when she set the fastest one-lap (231.627 mph) and four-lap (231.070 mph) qualification speeds for a woman in the history of the Indy 500. Legge is the embodiment of e.l.f.’s vision, said Kory Marchisotto, Chief Marketing Officer, e.l.f. Beauty. “Katherine is a bold disruptor with a kind heart. She is a force driven by positivity, inclusivity and accessibility. She takes to the track motivated to pave the way for future drivers who might not currently see themselves behind the wheel at big races. Her presence is helping to shape the future culture of racing,” Marchisotto said. “We are proud to sponsor Katherine as a beacon of limitless possibilities”. In 2012, Legge became just the ninth woman to qualify for the Indy 500, following Guthrie who was the first in 1977, and is the only female driver entered in this year’s race. The springboard for Legge’s professional career was winning on the Streets of Long Beach in 2005, making her the first woman to win a major open-wheel race in North America. In honor of that historic accomplishment, she will become the first female to be inducted into the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach Motorsports Walk of Fame later this month in Long Beach, California, joining legends of the sport like Mario Andretti to be immortalized. Legge will be competing in this year’s Indy 500 for Dale Coyne Racing with RWR (DCR), whom she also drove for in 2007 in the Champ Car World Series, now the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, and the Series where she was the first woman to lead a Champ Car race (2006). “We’re pleased to welcome Katherine back to our team after all these years. She’s had a good career since she first drove for us in 2007 and we can’t wait to start working with her again for this year’s Indianapolis 500,” shared Team Owner Dale Coyne. “We’re also excited to be part of this historic partnership with e.l.f. at the Indy 500. We look forward to working with them and making them proud in May.” The 108th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge is scheduled for Sunday, May 26, 2024, with coverage beginning at 11 a.m. ET on NBC. Harvey Moves Up Eight Spots in St. Petersburg, Braun Gains Experience in IndyCar Debut
St. Petersburg, Florida (Sunday, March 10, 2024) – Dale Coyne Racing saw its drivers Jack Harvey and Colin Braun make important gains on Sunday during the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. Harvey climbed eight positions in the 100-lap event to finish 19th while Colin Braun gained valuable experience to cross the finish line in 22nd. Jack Harvey, #18 INVST, Dale Coyne Racing Honda. Started: 27th Finished: 19th •Starting 27th, Harvey consistently made progress throughout the race. •The #18 INVST driver gained four positions at the start and was running 22nd when he made his first pit stop on Lap 28 during a full course caution. •Following his second stop he moved into 21st. •By the time the checkered flag flew he had gained eight positions from his starting position to finish 19th. •Harvey will be back behind the wheel of the #18 INVST car at Barber Motorsports Park in April. Post Qualifying Quote “Race 1 done with Dale Coyne Racing. Honestly, I feel like we finally started to get a little momentum today. We can work with this entire platform, this program. It’s going to take work, we knew that. We went into the season and into the weekend with our eyes fully open. Properly aware of what the expectations were. At the end of the day, we gained eight positions today. The pit stops were clean and everything on the driving side looked pretty good. Now, we need to continue to work hard and find some raw pace. We know that and we’re going to push ourselves the best we can to do it.” Colin Braun, #51 Dale Coyne Racing with RWR Honda Started: 25th Finished 22nd •Braun was making his first NTT INDYCAR SERIES start this weekend. •Starting from 25th, he gained three spots at the start to move into 22nd. •The rookie made his first pit stop on Lap 28 during a full course caution and stopped again for a splash of fuel on Lap 36, also during a caution period. •Braun lost a few spots when he locked up the brakes going into Turn 10 on Lap 52, but he was then able to make up the positions lost. •Braun went on to take the checkered flag in 22nd and gain valuable experience along the way. Post Qualifying Quote “I think overall it was a good day for me. My goal was to run all the laps. I made a mistake in Turn 10 and got some brake lockup and it decided to go straight. It took a minute to get it in reverse so we lost one lap, so I guess I missed out on one single lap. I stayed out of trouble, did the pit stops, learned a ton. I saw the track progression, saw what the marbles did offline. It was a lot to take in but these Dale Coyne Racing with RWR guys did great pit stops, I think we had good strategy. Of course everyone wants to finish better and improve but I learned a lot and I’m looking forward to the next one.” Next up: The $1 Million Challenge at Thermal Club where Colin Braun will be in the #51 Dale Coyne Racing with RWR entry, while rookie Nolan Siegel, who won his first INDY NXT race on Sunday, will be taking on his first NTT INDYCAR SERIES race.
Dale Coyne Racing Kicks Off Season in St. Petersburg
St. Petersburg, Florida (Saturday, March 9) – Dale Coyne Racing and drivers Jack Harvey and Colin Braun took to the streets of St. Petersburg Saturday during qualifying the season opening race. Harvey, who will be starting 27th, is making a comeback to the NTT INDYCAR SERIES this weekend while Braun, who qualified 25th, is making his series debut. Colin Braun, #51 Dale Coyne Racing with RWR Honda Starting: 25th •Braun took to the track in Group 1 for his first ever NTT INDYCAR SERIES qualifying session. •The American has been getting more and more comfortable with every session as he continues his learning curve in the series. •His first experience aboard an Indy car came last week during a one-day test at Sebring International Raceway. •Braun registered his fastest qualifying time on his penultimate lap of the 10-minute session. •The time placed him 13th in his group and 25th on the starting grid. Post Qualifying Quote “It’s been a huge learning curve for me. Every practice has been better and better. These guys at Dale Coyne Racing, they’ve been doing a really good job of getting me up to speed and more and more comfortable every time I go out in the car. That was sort of my first real run on the alternate tire and it makes a lot more grip. Yesterday, my second run on the black tire was all red so I didn’t really get a feel for that then we went right into the green alternate tire. So yeah, big jump on the grip level but happy to be making good gains and feeling more comfortable every time I jump in the car and looking forward to doing more tomorrow.” Jack Harvey, #18 INVST, Dale Coyne Racing Honda. Starting: 27th •Harvey, who is making his first start for Dale Coyne Racing this weekend, took to the track in Group 2 of qualifying. •The driver of the #18 INVST Honda registered his fastest time on his seventh lap of the 10-minute session. •His time initially placed him 11th in his group but he ended up 14th by the time the clock expired. •He will be starting 27th in Sunday’s Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. Post Qualifying Quote “Qualifying was a little underwhelming, I thought we were going to have a bit more speed than what we had but, that said, it’s just been great to be back this weekend with everyone at Dale Coyne Racing. I do think our race car seems to be in a better window than qualifying so we will see how tomorrow goes. I was a little worried about what might happen, but we’re going to go out and push as hard as we can with the No. 18 INVST Honda and do the best we can in the race.” Next up: Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, March 10, 2024 – Noon ET on NBC.

Braun, who is competing full time in IMSA this season, is currently signed to race at the season opening race in St. Petersburg and the $1 Million Challenge at Thermal Club, with the hopes of doing more races with Dale Coyne Racing later this year. What they have to say: Dale Coyne - Team Owner, Dale Coyne Racing “It’s been a busy off-season and we’re extremely pleased with our driver lineup heading into the 2024 season. I think we have a great combination of drivers that will work well together, as they’ve shown at our tests in Homestead and Sebring. Jack (Harvey) brings a lot of experience to the team and he immediately fit right in when he tested with us. Nolan (Siegel), like Jack, is a pleasure to work with. He impressed us at the Homestead test with how quickly he was up to speed for his first time in the car. We look forward to seeing what both will do this season aboard our 18 car. “We already know what Colin Braun can do in a sportscar, and it was great to see him jump into our Indy car last week. He’s jumping into the deep end with little time aboard one of these cars before his first race but we’re confident in his abilities and can’t wait to see him back in the car this weekend in St. Petersburg. “I also want to welcome INVST to our family of partners, we’re excited to have them onboard our 18 entry and look forward to building a successful partnership with them this season. We’re also excited to have Steve Newey join us as Lead Engineer on our 51 entry. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team. We’re excited to get the season started.” Jack Harvey, No. 18 INVST Honda – Dale Coyne Racing “I’m thrilled to join Dale Coyne Racing for this season. I want to thank Dale, INVST and many other supporters for giving me this opportunity to return to the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and continue this journey. St Pete has always been a city, and circuit, that I have loved and it’s great to have the opportunity to start this new chapter at one of my favorite events.” Nolan Siegel, No. 18 Honda – Dale Coyne Racing “I’m super excited to be joining Dale Coyne Racing for Thermal, Long Beach, the Indianapolis 500 and Toronto in the 18 car this season. It’s a lifelong dream come true for me to be racing in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. I can’t wait to make the most of this opportunity. Huge thank you to Dale, everyone at the team and everyone that has been a part of my career up until now that’s helped get me here. Thermal is right around the corner. We’re going to get to work, and I can’t wait to get back in the car.” Colin Braun, No. 51 Honda – Dale Coyne Racing with RWR “I’m so pumped about doing my first two NTT INDYCAR SERIES races at St. Petersburg and Thermal Club with Dale Coyne Racing with RWR. I want to give a huge thank you to Dale. What an opportunity he gave me last week to get a taste of the Indy car in Sebring. It was so fun to drive. The folks at Honda and HRC also made me feel right at home. I can’t wait to get going in St. Pete. It’s a place I haven’t been to in a little bit so we’re definitely jumping off into the deep end but I’m looking forward to getting going on the street course, continuing to work with the team, a great group of people there, and I couldn’t be more excited and ready to get going on this challenge. It’s going to be a blast.” For more on Jack Harvey, Nolan Siegel and Colin Braun: www.dalecoyneracing.com About INVST Invst.
