Ferrucci Pilots Mouser Molex Machine to Ninth Place Finish in GMR Grand Prix

Santino Ferrucci piloted the No. 18 Mouser Molex-Dale Coyne Vasser-Sullivan machine to a ninth place finish today in the GMR Grand Prix on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. Ferrucci started 15th and had to overcome a minor bobble during his first pit stop, but drove with determination and skill to earn his first top-10 finish of the season and best finish in two races on the IMS road course.

“We finished ninth today and we were coming. Our race car was very good. I am really proud of the whole Coyne Vasser-Sullivan team. In this morning’s warm-up we got the Mouser Molex Honda back up to speed like we had in practice on day one. We bobbled the first pit stop, but we raced it back to finish 9th. That was really stong. I think we will have a great car when we come back in October.

Santino Ferrucci Fast Facts:
Ferrucci earned 22 points today and is now 13th in the IndyCar championship standing with 31 points.

This is his best finish on the IMS road course in two races. He placed 10th last year in his IMS debut.

Ferrucci is contesting his second full NTT IndyCar season and first with Dale Coyne Racing w/ Vasser-Sullivan.

The 2020 GMR Grand Prix was Ferrucci’s 23rd NTT IndyCar Series start and second on the IMS road course.

In 23 career IndyCar starts, he has three top-five finishes (Fourth at: Texas Motor Speedway, Pocono Raceway and World Wide Technology Raceway, all in 2019)

Ferrucci was the 2019 Indianapolis 500 “Rookie of the Year” finishing seventh.

He finished third in 2019 “Rookie of the Year” standings, third in laps completed (2037 of 2092), was fourth among all drivers on ovals with 170 points and eighth in laps led with 118. Ferrucci placed 13th in championship standings with 351 points.

Ferrucci, 22, is a native of Woodbury, Connecticut but resides in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
