Plainfield, IL (July 10, 2018) – Dale Coyne Racing’s Zachary Claman De Melo is heading to his home country of Canada this week for the Honda Indy Toronto, the 12th round of the season on the Verizon IndyCar Series schedule.
The rookie driver, a native of Montreal, Quebec, will be taking part in his ninth and last scheduled IndyCar race this year aboard his #19 Paysafe machine and is looking to end his season on a high note.
“I’m extremely excited to go to Toronto,” expressed Claman De Melo. “I have a lot of friends and family there that will be watching, so it’s a really special race for me. I love the track and I think it should be a fun race. I finished on the podium twice in Toronto last year in Indy Lights so hopefully I can be strong there again and get a really good result for the team and Paysafe in front of my friends and family.”
This weekend will mark the first time Claman De Melo takes to the 1.786-mile, 11-turn street course at Exhibition Place in Toronto. However, he has four previous starts at the Canadian track in Indy Lights. His double podium weekend last season included a best finish of second and a best start of third.
The young Canadian will get his first taste of an Indy car on the streets of Toronto starting Friday, July 13th with two practice sessions. Qualifying for the Honda Indy Toronto will take place Saturday, July 14 at 1:55pm ET and will be broadcast on NBCSN on a same day delay from 4:30pm ET.
The Honda Indy Toronto is scheduled to go green on Sunday, July 15 at 3:42pm ET and will be broadcast live on NBCSN from 3pm ET and can be heard on the Advance Auto Parts IndyCar Radio Network, including SIRIUS/XM 209/214.
All practice sessions and qualifying will be streamed live on racecontrol.indycar.com.
