Long Beach, CA (April 12, 2018) – Dale Coyne Racing’s Zachary Claman De Melo will be back behind the wheel of the #19 The Paysafe Car this weekend for the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach that takes place April 13 -15.
Claman De Melo will be making his first ever appearance on the streets of Long Beach when he takes to the track on Friday. In preparation for this weekend’s race, the Canadian has been spending time on a simulator learning the 11-turn, 1.968-mile street course layout.
“I’m looking forward to getting back in the car this weekend at Long Beach,” shared the rookie driver. “Watching in Phoenix from the timing stand really made me itch to get back in the #19 Paysafe car.
“I have never been to Long Beach before so it’s definitely going to be a challenge, but I’ve been preparing and have spent some time on the simulator getting to know the track. I’m looking forward to the weekend.”
This weekend will mark the third Verizon IndyCar Series start for Claman De Melo who took part in the season opening race on the streets of St. Petersburg in March.
The driver of the #19 The Paysafe Car will get two 45-minute practice sessions on Friday, April 13 with a third 45-minute practice session on Saturday morning to familiarize himself with the intricacies of the street course ahead of qualifying that afternoon.
Qualifying will be broadcast live on NBCSN from 6:30pm ET on Saturday, April 14. All practice sessions will be streamed live on racecontrol.indycar.com.
The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach will go green on Sunday, April 15 at 1:42pm local time and will be broadcast live on NBCSN from 4pm ET. The race will also be live on the Advance Auto Parts IndyCar Radio Network, including SIRIUS/XM 209/214.
