– Chaves back in #19 Boy Scouts of America car for Detroit Round –
Indianapolis, IN (June 2, 2016) – Dale Coyne Racing is returning to the scene of one of its victories this weekend as the Verizon IndyCar Series heads to the Raceway at Belle Isle for the Dual in Detroit, the only doubleheader on the 2016 schedule.
After disappointing results at last weekend’s 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500, Conor Daly and Gabby Chaves, who is back in the #19 car this weekend, are anxious to get back behind the wheel. Both drivers will be making their second IndyCar appearance at the 2.35-mile, 14-turn temporary street circuit, having made their Detroit IndyCar debut last year.
The Detroit similarities between Daly and Chaves don’t end there. The DCR drivers also both picked up their career best finishes at the Raceway at Belle Isle with Daly finishing sixth and Chaves ninth.
Dale Coyne Racing scored its third IndyCar Series win in Race 1 at Detroit three years ago with Mike Conway and the team would like nothing more than to repeat that exploit this weekend, with two opportunities to do so.
The team will have one 75-minute practice session on Friday, June 3 ahead of that afternoon’s Dual #1 qualifying session. The first race of the weekend will take place on Saturday, June 4 and will be broadcast live on ABC from 3:30pm ET.
Dual #2 will go green on Sunday, June 5 and will also be broadcast live on ABC from 3:30pm ET.
All non-televised sessions will be streamed live on IndyCar’s Facebook and YouTube with live timing and scoring available on http://www.indycar.com as well as on the INDYCAR Mobile App.

“I’m excited about the Detroit race weekend. Last year was really cool, we had a legit shot at winning the race. It was an awesome time, an awesome fight with a lot of good drivers and I’m just hoping for the same thing this year. I think it’s a great event. The doubleheader is really intense, two races in a weekend is a lot on the whole team. We just need to make sure that we’re all prepared and ready to go. I know I’ll be ready, and I know the guys will be ready. I just can’t wait. It should be fun. The track was super bumpy last year, so it will be interesting to see if it’s changed at all, other than that it’s a fun track to drive and race on and hopefully we can create some good racing.”

“We head into Detroit as we try to keep building on what we’ve started. I’ve had two races with the Dale Coyne Racing team, and for myself, after being back in the car for the whole month of May, I can really get going now. I’m really looking forward to it. Detroit was my first Top 10 of the year last season so I think we’re set up for a good run. The Detroit track location is fantastic, but it’s a rough circuit, it’ll beat you up and beat the cars up so we have to work hard to make sure we have a really good car.”
