Another Top Ten, Historic Win & 9th Overall Cap Off 2009 Season
Homestead-Miami, Florida (October 10, 2009) – In this, the final race of the 2009 IndyCar Championship Season, Justin Wilson in his #18 Z-Line Designs Dale Coyne Racing Indy Car finished another impressive race in the top ten earning him precious points.
After starting 13th for the final 200 lap evening race on this 1.5 mile oval, Justin and his team improved the car with every pit stop. After falling back to 15th at the start, adjustments were made on every stop giving Justin a steadily improving car. Justin was rewarded with a 10th place.
Finishing 10th would be good enough to not only secure 10th place in the Championship the team held coming into this race, but actually would improve their position in the standings to finish off the year in 9th overall amongst the 38 drivers competing in the highly coveted crown.
“What a great year this has been,” commented Justin. “We have improved all year with Dale, Bill and all the guys we have really gained a lot of ground. I look forward to building on this for next year. We improved every weekend this year and if we can start where we left off, I really feel we can be challenging for wins more often than not next year.”
It has been a great year for all involved. The addition of Justin Wilson, Bill Pappas and Mitch Davis to the team shows Dale Coyne’s dedication to build this team into a winning effort. The win the team enjoyed at Watkins Glen this summer stands as the only win by any other team other than Penske and Championship winning team Ganassi. This accomplishment could not be matched by any of the seasoned teams in the series and speaks volumes for the competitiveness of Dale Coyne Racing.
“What a break out year for everyone on this team,” expressed Team Owner Dale Coyne. “Justin has been fantastic and we all have grown together perfectly in 2009. We will build on this and have one of our busiest off seasons ever as we all look to improve our efforts even further for 2010. I would also like to thank Jim & Monica Sexton and all the people at Z-Line Designs for their support and efforts, 2009 has been a win win year for all of us and we could not have done it with out their help and dedication to this team.”
With the season over, things are in full swing for next year. Building, expanding, growth, have already started for 2010 over the past couple of months. This hard working group of dedicated racers returns to the race shop Monday morning to start a new and exciting season of Indy Car racing.
