Justin Wilson to visit Children’s Memorial Hospital and Carry Racing For Kids® Logo in Chicago Race
Chicago, Illinois (August 27, 2009) – IndyCar racing star Justin Wilson will visit hospitalized youngsters at Chicago’s Children’s Memorial Hospital Thursday, August 27, on behalf of national children’s charity, Racing For Kids®. Wilson drives for Chicago area’s Dale Coyne Racing.
This is Wilson’s 2nd Racing For Kids visit this year. Earlier he spent time with 150 patients and their siblings at Toronto’s Hospital For Sick Children. In addition, the Sheffield, England native, will carry the distinctive Racing For Kids logo on his #18 Z-Line Designs Dallara/Honda/Firestone racecar for Saturday Night’s Peak Indy 300 race at the Chicagoland Speedway.
Wilson has two wins and 12 Top Ten finishes in 30 starts in the IndyCar Series.
Joining Wilson in the Chicago hospital visit with be Firestone Indy Lights racer, Ana “Bea” Beatriz who drivers for Sam Schmidt Racing and has made several Racing For Kids visits in the past two years.
Racing For Kids, in its 20th year, uses the popularity of motorsports to focus public attention and funding on the healthcare needs of children. IndyCar Series and Firestone Indy Lights Series drivers visit hospitalized youngsters at children’s hospitals before each race weekend on behalf of the charity.
In its 20 years, Racing For Kids has visited more than 20,000 youngsters in 450 hospitals and raised more than $5 million in grants and in kind donations for the hospitals it visits and other deserving child health organizations.
